Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Establish the Data Governance and Privacy Office (DGPO) for the Group and governance framework
  • Lead the enterprise privacy compliance program
  • Oversee all aspects (people, operations, technologies and content) of the DGPO across all countries
  • Define and own the data governance and privacy roadmap for the Group by providing strategic, operational and regulatory leadership to achieve data consistency and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Lead the data governance program at a Group level acting as a COE guiding & influencing the implementation across the our Operating Companies & countries
  • Set the data governance and privacy strategy and framework consisting of structures, processes and procedures, and controls; communicate to data governance and privacy steerco and to the Board
  • Identify, procure and deploy the required people, processes, budget and technologies to execute the strategy
  • Collaborate with, influence and inspire senior leaders across Majid Al Futtaim for the adoption of data governance and privacy tools to drive customer, business and regulatory impact in a scalable and digital manner
  • Develop awareness and culture of Privacy across the Group and stay at the forefront of the privacy regulatory landscape across our operating markets. Ensure timely impact assessment of the privacy laws and in partnership with internal teams (e.g. Legal, Information Security, IT, Compliance etc) develop and execute remedial work to address changes or gaps within mandated timelines.
  • Lead technical teams to oversee the collection, storage, management, quality and protection of data
  • Build and deploy data governance and privacy dashboards for reporting progress and effectiveness of controls, quality of data and compliance with privacy requirements e.g. data subject access requests
  • Ensure customer or regulatory privacy inquiries are addressed in a timely manner in partnership with internal teams and country data protection officers/privacy representatives. Maintain the Group Privacy Notice.
  • Support teams on data governance and privacy aspect to ensure data is fit for purpose, of high quality, governed from inception to destruction, and managed in accordance with defined standards.
Candidate Profile
Be a subject matter expert and be able to manage and guide the respective stakeholders across Majid Al Futtaim to achieving and remaining compliant with internal data governance and privacy policies and growing privacy regulations. Partner with wider Majid Al Futtaim teams and engage (and manage) 3rd party consultancy and laws firms as required and manage direct reports (Majid Al Futtaim employees) across different geolocations and timezones.
Required Functional and Technical Competencies
  • IAPP Accreditation (CIPP, CIPM)
  • Familiar with GCC, EU and APAC Privacy Landscape
  • Familiar with tools and techniques across Data Governance, Data Modelling and Architecture, Data Quality, MDM, Data Access and Sharing, Privacy Management, ETL, Data Discover and Lineage, Reference Data Management, Process Design and Re-engineering (Six Sigma or similar)
  • A degree in (Masters or Bachelors) in management information system, computer science, project management, or related discipline
  • Certifications in project management PRINCE2 is preferred
  • Achieved designation of ‘Fellow of International Association of Privacy Professionals’ (preferred)
Personal Characteristics and Required Background:
  • 10-15 years of data governance and privacy experience being able to manage large scale implementations.
  • Experience is dealing with regulatory inquiries, working in partnership with legal teams.
  • Experience in Retail and Leisure & Entertainment is preferred.
  • Experience in building and managing teams across different geolocations.
  • Strong leadership and communications skills with track record of delivering insights and recommendations to C-suite and to the Board.
  • Stay informed and up to date with the latest industry trends and insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments, meeting challenging deadlines with ease.
  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail and demonstrate strong leadership in project management.
  • Strong conceptual analytical/problem solving skills; sound judgement and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze data (e.g. using excel, MS Access, SQL) and generate insight dashboards in (e.g. using Qlikview, etc…).
