Key Accountabilities
To ensure that customer facing and /or any subcontractor or service provider contractual commitments entered into by the division represents a positive commercial position for the company and comply with applicable legislation.
Provide oversight and management for all sector / divisional contracts, ensuring support to Contract Managers on disputes, variations, scope creep, cash collection and margin improvement activities to support the broader business objectives.
Subject Matter Expert that provides a professional service to the organisation.
Be the Business Partner to the assigned sector and /or corporate functions, a primary point of contact for all commercial and procurement matters and act the ‘Intelligent Customer’ interface point between the business and external client and supplier stakeholders.
Builds strong relationships with all stakeholders internal and external esp. Customers and /or suppliers in particular the commercial, contracts, legal and procurement functions of those customers.
Drive early engagement and collaboration with bid teams to ensure bid requirements are understood and deliverables, resourcing and budget are agreed to create competitive solutions that meets bid requirements, leverages the existing supply base or sources new suppliers as required, and mitigates risk to support profitable growth.
Responsible for the provision of commercial and procurement support to the bids, transitions and BAU projects, leveraging the capacity and expertise within the team, SME division and professional per network outside SME.
Ensure procedures and key controls remain fit of purpose, reflect legislative and regulatory requirements and ensure team members plays a pivotal role at a detailed level, on those commercial negotiations that are either material in terms of impact on financials, impact on strategy or level of complexity.
Participate in the planning and budgeting process across the business units providing input relating to cost pressures and savings.
Support to the use of Serco Group’s CPM, CMA, SharePoint toolsets to improve / assist the business in managing and tracking all contractual obligations.
Ensures all legally binding documentation, is properly filed, and recorded both electronically and in hard copy form.
Post-graduate qualification (e.g. MSc/MBA) or a professional qualification such as MCIPS and / or any other internationally recognised commercial qualifications are desirable but not essential
Extensive knowledge and experience of drafting, negotiating, agreeing and executing a wide range of commercial contracts / instruments including confidentiality, teaming and JV type, framework, supply chain, sales agreements, etc. that represent a positive commercial outcome for the division.
Advanced understanding of the key components of contracts, terms and conditions and the legislative environment that applies to and affects such commercial contracts.
Extensive knowledge and experience in risk identification and management and structuring commercial contractual paperwork to mitigate or minimise such identified risks / issues.
Experience of working and evaluation commercial financial models for valuation and bids submission.
Will have a track record of developing and implementing procurement strategies and pipeline of associated procurement projects delivering innovative solutions and financial benefits.
Experienced in supplier relationship and performance management.
Experience of working in a multi-site organisation.
Staff management and Operational support experience.
