Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promotes a safe working environment
- Promotes ethical practices & maintain patient confidentiality
- Provides reception support for the laboratory.
- Provides support for transcription, filing, report distribution, etc
- Maintains general office supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Participates in laboratory QI activities
- Assists with follow-up of incident/accidents and Patient and staff complaints
- Participates at the lab monthly focus group
- Participates in continuing education activities on a regular basis
- Participates in continuing education activities on a regular basis
- Liaise with internal and external laboratory clients as required
- Keep open lines of communication with Laboratory Director, Technical director/supervisor section supervisors, and fellow colleagues and maintain open channels with other hospital services as required.
- Responds to test/reports enquiries from laboratory clients.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited secretarial program.
Professional experience:
- Minimum two years experience in a secretarial capacity.
- Preference to applicants with knowledge/ training in medical terminology
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of general computer applications (word and spreadsheet processing) is a prerequisite, with hospital information system experience preferred.
