Job Description
Lead Clinical Dietitian
To design nutrition programs to improve or maintain the health of patients. Positions in this class are characterized by their responsibility to provide advanced level oversight as lead dietitians in the nutritional services section. This class is distinguished from the Supervising Dietitian by the latter’s overall responsibility to supervise and direct the clinical dietary program.
Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following:
- Acts as lead over the development and implementation of nutritional care based on an assessment of needs and consultation with physicians and other health care team members regarding appropriate nutritional care.
- Assesses and evaluates whether dietary plans are appropriate and provides recommendations for change as needed; ensures departmental nutritional quality standards are met.
- Interviews individuals or groups with special nutritional needs and provides instruction and counseling on the proper selection, purchasing, and preparation of foods.
- Documents initial and on-going patient nutritional assessments and determines risk factors.
- Participates in health team rounds serving as a consultant on nutritional care and in management meetings.
- Evaluates and monitors individuals receiving enteral/parenteral nutrition.
- Trains and educates dietetic technicians, interns, and students; oversees the performance of dietetic technicians and other support staff.
- Educates in-patients and out-patients; evaluates and updates nutritional education materials; and assists with developing and /or revising clinical policies, procedures, and dietary information.
- Serves as an educational resource to the nursing staff, physicians, students, and the public; prepares presentations and represents information on various nutrition topics.
- As directed, assists the Supervising Dietitian by participating in the hiring process, providing input on work performance evaluations, assigning work, reviewing work, and assisting with staff development programs of Dietitians, Dietetic Technicians, Dietary Clerks, students and support staff.
- May recommend policy and procedural changes to the Supervising Dietitian; may act for the Supervising Dietitian in their absence.
- Provides vacation and temporary relief as required for Clinical Staff and for Supervising Dietitian.
- Other assignment as required.
Requirements :
- Bachelor of Science in Dietetics OR Bachelor’s degree in Health Science with a major in Nutrition (Please see table below) And Post-graduate diploma or master in Dietetics Nutritionist
- At least Five (5) years of experience post qualification in a related field in a health facility
- Must have Inpatient and Outpatient experience and should be specialized in Adults & Pediatric
- Active Home Country License
- Must have active DHA/DOH/ DHA Eligibility
