Purpose:
The Safety Investigator-Airworthiness reports directly to the Manager Quality Safety Investigation and is responsible for leading the investigation and representing the company in compliance with the GCAA & EASA Continued Airworthiness Regulations.
Accountabilities:
· Perform internal safety investigations of occurrences and incidents related to the airworthiness of the aircraft to identify causal and contributory factors.
· Identify safety recommendations to the organization to avoid repeated safety incidents.
· Assessing the severity of safety incidents to determine the extent of the company’s response to an incident.
· Compose and review safety investigation reports.
· Maintain the safety management system database to ensure integrity and accuracy for statistical use.
· Research the latest techniques/technologies in investigation and human factors to ensure best industry practices.
· Additional duties and responsibilities, as reasonably expected, may be assigned as required.
Education & Experience
· 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance/technical operations of which 2-5 years should be in an SMS/Safety Investigations role.
· Minimum Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License (Recommended) or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to engineering, safety, or aviation.
· Familiar with and demonstrates sound knowledge of the GCAA/EASA CAR-145, CAR-SMS and CAR-M regulations.
· Completed Level 1 or higher training on at least of one aircraft type from the Etihad Airways Fleet.
· Trained in Root Cause Analysis Techniques.
· Completed an aircraft accident/incident investigation course.
