Geotechnical Design Engineer Jobs in Dubai, UAE
Job Description
- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Specific
The candidate should have specific experience in the following.
- Geotechnical Investigations
- Assessment of Geotechnical Parameters
- Preparation of Ground Models for different design situations
The candidate should also have specific experience in 3 or more of the following.
- Shallow Foundation Design
- Deep Foundation Design
- Earthworks (Embankment) Design
- Slope Design
- Excavation Lateral Support Design
- Ground Improvement Design
- Liquefaction Assessment
The following would be considered beneficial
- Shallow Foundation Design
- Deep Foundation Design
- Earthworks (Embankment) Design
- Slope Design
- Excavation Lateral Support Design
- Ground Improvement Design
- Liquefaction Assessment
- Geophysical Survey
- Seismic Design
- Geotechnics of dam design
The knowledge of the following software packages or their equivalent would be an advantage.
- Slope/W or Slide
- Seep/W
- Plaxis 2D or RS2 or Sigma/W
- Repute, Group and LPile
- PDisp or Settle 3D
- CPeT-IT
- CLiq or Liquefy-Pro
- A 3D FEM would be considered an advantage.
Good knowledge of contracts relating to investigation, survey and construction works.
A balance of experience between design and site would be an added benefit.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University in one or more of the following subjects and a Master of Science / Engineering or PhD would be preferred.

- Foundation Engineering
- Soil Mechanics
- Rock Mechanics
- Rock Engineering
- Mining Engineering
CEng, PE, or equivalent licensing/registration as a professional engineer is required.
Relevant registration required in Qatar, Bahrain and UAE.
Experience
- Generally, 2 to 8 years’ experience.
