DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Bares the same responsibilities of the Senior Biomedical Engineer during holidays and annual leave.
•  Perform the initial acceptance testing for all the hospital medical equipment.
• Ensure that all the hospital’s medical equipment is functioning correctly at all times according to JCI, FDA, ANSI, AAMI, UL, and NFPA standards.
• Answer to any medical equipment maintenance request needed throughout the hospital.
• Insure the compliance of all medical equipment with the hospital’s preventive and corrective maintenance policy.
• Prepare and perform the training, demonstrations, and in-services for designated users.
• Assist in the evaluation and coordination of the purchase of new capital medical equipment.
• Track the invoices and delivery notes for all new capital medical equipment purchases.
• Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the management and operations of the Biomedical engineering section of Support Services of the American Hospital Dubai during the absence of the Senior Biomedical Engineer.
• Implements and complies with the department’s standards, policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to Biomedical Engineering Services
• Assists in securing a safe environment by implementing best practice and PPM scheduling to ECRI/JCIA and other industry standards
• Works with the Biomedical Technicians to ensure optimal efficiency and continuous safe practices
• Recommends, and advises the specifications of necessary resources for effective service provision including subcontracted services
• Participates in ongoing educational activities related to Biomedical Engineering
• Performs the initial acceptance testing for all the hospital medical equipment
• Insures the compliance of all medical equipment with the hospital’s preventive and corrective maintenance policy
• Demonstrates observable competency in area of experience
• Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others
• Provides peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice
• Answers to any medical equipment maintenance request needed throughout the hospital
• Participates in the planning of new and expansion of existing services
• Shares his knowledge and expertise in the planning of new expansion of existing services
• Prioritizes for optimal use of time

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Professional Chartered Engineer
• B.SC Engineering

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in Biomedical Engineering with a proven record of diagnostic testing and repairs on a wide range of Medical devices.
• Supervisory management experience
• Knowledge of Medical Purchasing and contract administration.
