Diagnoses and treats diseases of heart and its functions: Examines patient for symptoms indicative of heart disorders, using medical instruments and equipment. Studies diagnostic images and electrocardiograph recordings to aid in making diagnoses. Prescribes medications, and recommends dietary and activity program, as indicated. Refers patient to either an interventional cardiologist or to a Surgeon specializing in cardiac cases when need for corrective surgery is indicated
3.1 Performs the professional duties of an internist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges depending
on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
3.2 To perform his duties in the Cardiology outpatient clinic evaluating patients with cardiovascular disease.
3.3 To provide care to In-patients admitted under his / her care.
3.4 Provides on-call emergency coverage for Cardiology Emergencies
3.5 Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.
3.6 Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential
nature.
3.7 Evidences dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
3.8 Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for
them.
3.10 Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
3.11 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.12 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.13 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.14 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.15 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.16 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.17 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
4.1 Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency;
certification by the American Board of Cardiology or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its
equivalent).
4.2 At least five (3) years of practice as a cardiologist as a licensed specialist.
4.3 Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
4.4 Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license as a specialist cardiologist to practice in Abu Dhabi,
UAE.
4.5 Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
