Insurance Manager Jobs in UAE
Job Purpose
Working as part of a team to assist in managing all responsibilities associated with a broad spectrum of global insurances (such as Property, Liability, Cyber, Travel, D&O etc) for the DP World Logistics business within the DP World Portfolio (Regions include: Middle East & Africa, Australasia, Subcontinent and UAE) to ensure quality, cost effective and compliant insurance policies are provided to each operation.
Reporting to the Vice President (VP) Group Insurance, the role will be the focal point of insurance activities for their region and working with the VP Group Insurance and the DP World Group Insurance personnel to ensure a coordinated insurance strategy is executed.
Key Accountabilities
- To design, negotiate, manage and administer appropriate global and operation-specific insurance contracts to ensure sound and cost-effective cover is in place.
- To create awareness of Global Insurance strategy and advise on best practices through the delivery of workshops, presentations and training programmes for local, regional and global colleagues as well as external stakeholders.
- Provide timely day to day support for regions, and senior management.
- To monitor and manage claims process across certain policies and coordinate the management of large losses.
- To control group insurance costs by ensuring renewal processes are rigorous and timely.
- Review, assess and amend both standard and non-standard customer, supplier and third-party contracts to ensure insurance related contract risks are transferred / mitigated.
- To manage the insurance process for new business due diligence reviews and project finance.
- Responsible for the management and leadership of 1 direct report, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Tertiary qualified in relevant degree.
- Minimum of 10 years practical experience in developing and managing insurance for major organizations
- Logistics insurance experience required.
- Experience of managing insurance captives is advantageous.
- High technical insurance management and commercial acumen
- Experience of managing/coordinating large complex claims
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to provide contractual review advice across a broad range of contracts (project finance / due diligence / commercial agreements) as it relates to insurance and indemnity provisions
- A good understanding of the emerging trends and developments in insurance management practices in multi-national organizations
- Minimum of 5 years exposure to international operations and working in a multi-cultural environment.
- High ethical standards
- Project management skills
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, both externally and at all levels of the organisation
- Appropriate professional qualification and membership of internationally recognised Insurance or Risk Management body
- Proficient in Excel
