1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical work activities:

• assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate     radiographic techniques;
• performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-         quality images;
• observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department;
• assisting in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of a radiologist and senior staff;
• working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise;
• using initiative to prioritize, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and, when appropriate, assisting senior staff to plan efficient control of work flow patterns within the department;
• communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful and appropriate way;
• positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma;
• dealing confidently with difficult situations;
• recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality;
• learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and participating in annual performance appraisal programmes;
• supervising assistant practitioners,  and other staff, and delivering appropriate training;
• performing necessary administrative tasks, when required;
• understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others;
• undertaking quality control checks on X-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives;
• Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported to Biomedical and HOD.
• reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures;
•    Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department.
•    Assist Radiologist in procedures and helping with reporting
•    Managing PACS and HMS as the need may be
•    Maintaining TAT register and department indicators.
•    Arranging the forms for radiologists for reporting
•    Arranging for emergency procedures
•    Ensuring JCIA compliance among Radiographers.
•    Timely delivery of images and form to Doctors for reporting.
•    To perform and follow quality assurance programs for various RADIOLOGY sub- departments.
• To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
  1.        CT Scan 

1. To perform quality control test daily.
2. To make sure that the consent form is duly filled up
3. To explain to the patient before starting the procedure.
4. The contrast procedure is carried out according to instruction given by the radiologist.
5. To explain to the patient about contraindications.
6. To make sure that all emergency drugs and accessories are properly maintained with the assistance of an experienced nurse.
7. To arrange anesthesia back up in case of emergencies, non-cooperative patients.
8. To ensure that the images obtained are seen and verified by the radiologist.
9. To check whether the images are properly sent to PACS and make sure that the images are archived.
10. To check the stock of contrast media and films regularly.
11. To ensure that the equipments are in proper working conditions and in case of any problem to inform the department in-charge or biochemical engineer.
12. To maintain the breakdown logbook.
13. To perform any other work/ job as when assigned by the superior.
14. Exclude pregnancy in woman of child bearing child and bring to Physician / Radiologists notice.

2. To ensure the rooms and equipment are kept clean.
3. To explain to the patient before starting the procedure.
4. To ensure that necessary radiation protection is given to the patient.
5. To take x-ray as per the instruction and given if for digital processing
6.  To check the quality of x-ray before the patient leaves the department.
7.  To send the images for reporting to doctor’s through PACS system
8.  To give necessary instruction and appointment to the patient in case of contrast studies.
9.  To carry out the fluoroscopy procedures according to the instruction given by the radiologist.

1. QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIALSKILLS

1. College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent.
2. Current license in the country of origin, with DHA License to practice in Dubai, UAE.
3. The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of  and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology and physics.
4. Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
5. Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
6. At least three years experience.
7. A supportive and caring disposition.
8. Adaptability and good time management skills.
9. Team working ability.
10. Confidence in dealing with stressful situations.
11. IT competencies.
