Clinical Coordinator Full Time

Assumes overall responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the Maternal Newborn Unit. Directs coordinates and evaluates the activities of the designated areas to maintain optimal delivery of patient care.

• Coordinates the provision of safe, efficient and economical nursing care in the Maternal Newborn Unit in line with established standards of care.
• Acts as a Clinical Resource to staff.
• Provides and supports direct culturally acceptable care for patients and families.
• Collaborates with patients, families and healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Mentors and nurtures junior nurses in the Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Stays up-to-date with clinical practice and promotes an evidence-based approach to care.
• Develops measurable improvement goals for the assigned Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Implements and evaluates new and creative approaches to meeting improvement goals.
• Ensures optimum physical and budgetary management of the Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Creates and supports an environment which fosters teamwork, cooperation, and respect for cultural diversity.
• Coordinates with the Nursing Office to ensure all staff have a current license.
• Ensures staff completion of departmental and unit-specific competencies.
• Ensures 100% of new staff completes a planned departmental orientation within 120 days.
• Promotes development and use of Care Planning and Clinical Pathways.
• Maintains accountability for budgeting/financial management and optimal use of resources in the Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Supports, enforces, and interprets institutional and departmental policies and procedures for staff.
• Performs additional duties as required as per the Scope of Service (e.g. Administration Supervisor, etc).
• Promotes professional and clinical growth of self and staff.
• Participates and chairs hospital-wide and nursing committees as required.
• Integrates evidence-based research/practice into clinical and management processes within the Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Contributes to the overall control of the unit budget and identifies areas where cost improvements can be made.
• Formulates, updates, reviews, and implements policies, procedures and other documentation related to nursing practice.
• Promotes the effective orientation, precepting and support of new staff.
• Provides a welcoming work environment for new staff and ensures appropriate preceptors are made available to assist with orientation.
• Monitors and tracks individual progress.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time course duration) or
• Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
• For UAE nationals graduates of UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE nationals must submit a copy of their birth certificate and the mother’s family book).
• Non-UAE national graduates from UAE universities are required to complete six (6) months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registered and assistant Nurse titles).
• Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable).
• Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or others according to the scope of practice.
• Post Graduate Qualification in Nursing Management/Advanced Clinical Speciality preferable.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of six (6) to seven (7) years of recent post-graduate experience in the Maternal Newborn Unit.
• Knowledge of and the ability to render care and services based on patients’ age appropriateness and developmental needs.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA).
• Demonstrates incremental leadership and management experience.
• Communication skills in Arabic and English are essential.
• Private hospital experience preferred.
