Mechanical Technician Full Time

Purpose of the Job:

To ensure the proper selection, installation, and maintenance of pipes and related materials and equipment, including supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, in compliance with job specifications. The Pipe Fitter will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, assembling, and testing piping systems, while ensuring the safe and effective installation of mechanical systems.

Job Accountabilities:

• Pipe Cutting & Threading: Cut, thread, or hammer pipes using various power and hand tools to prepare pipes for installation.
• Pipe Measurement & Marking: Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading as per the job requirements and specifications.
• Blueprint & Layout Interpretation: Study blueprints to plan and draw layouts to scale, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards.
• System Inspection: Inspect, examine, or test installed piping systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with quality standards.
• Structure Modification: Cut or bore holes in structures to accommodate the installation of pipes.
• Pipe Assembly & Joining: Assemble and join pipes using various methods such as threaded, chalked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, as required for the project.
• Installation Planning: Plan the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and minimize pipe cutting, ensuring smooth execution of tasks.
• Leak Testing: Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in the pipes and monitoring the gauges to ensure the system is secure.

Qualifications & Education:

• High-school diploma or equivalent certification in mechanical works, plumbing, or related fields.
• Additional certifications in pipefitting, plumbing, or mechanical installation are highly desirable.

Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical works, specifically in pipe fitting and plumbing installations.
• Proven experience in irrigation systems and the ability to read irrigation drawings and execute the work accordingly.
• Strong background in plumbing works, including pipe layout, installation, and repair.
• Experience in handling complicated repair work involving pipelines and mechanical systems.
