Job Description
- Performs professional duties of an Internal Medicine doctor.
- Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
- Evaluates and treats all common conditions during pregnancy: Hypertension (high blood pressure), Diabetes, Blood Clots, Kidney Disease, Thyroid Problems, Pulmonary Disease, Lupus, Heart Disease, Seizures, Bleeding Disorders, Asthma and Obesity in Pregnancy.
- Evaluates and treats acute symptoms in pregnancy such as palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches and lower back pain.
- Combines the expertise from obstetric medicine physicians with that of a number of other specialists including maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, nurses with critical care expertise and pharmacists.
- Maintains contact with the patient’s and other health care providers throughout care.
- Responsible for hospitalized cases and certain out-patients whose disease requires medical care at the specialist level.
- Responsible for the admission and work-up of all medical patients to medical wards, and HDU as required. These patients remain the responsibility of the admitting internist from the time of admission to the date of discharge.
- Responsible for the day-to-day care of patients who are assigned to the ward physicians; however, the ultimate responsibility remains with the admitting Internist.
- Conducts out-patient medical consultations in the clinics by appointment and follows-up on medical problems as needed.
- Demonstrates dependability by answering to medical consultations by physicians in other departments after working hours and when on call.
- Performs the professional duties of an internist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges maintained by the Internal Medicine department for individual internists. Privileges may differ between individual internists, depending on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
- Answers in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.
- Participates in the reading of EKG’s. Performs lung function studies and makes interpretations when needed.
- Administers Executive Health Program examinations on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Will perform professional duties as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist
- Providing surgical care both in the operating room and in the O.P.D. for Gynecologic and Obstetric conditions for both emergency and planned procedures.
- Covering the Delivery Room to include admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning a course of action, performing both spontaneous and operative deliveries, and interacting with midwives.
- Covering the Emergency Service by promptly responding to calls for consultation.
- Providing out-patient care in Clinics, when so assigned by the head of department.
- Working evenings, nights, week-ends and holidays according to a schedule compiled by the Head of Department.
- Doing and interpreting ultrasound examinations both in hospital and on an out-patient basis.
- Interpreting fetal heart rate monitoring and taking appropriate action.
- Carrying out formal and informal consultations from physicians from other departments.
- Attending committee meetings when so assigned by the Head of department.
- Interacting with patients’ families to keep them informed of the patient’s condition, changes in condition and plans.
- Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
- Carrying out other duties when requested by the Head of department.
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved Medical School plus Internship
- Three years residency in OBG culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate
- Tier 1 or Tier 2 Qualification as Consultant level approved and recognized by DOH/ DHA/ MOH PQR
- Five or more year’s exclusive practice in OBG since certification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical services policies and procedures, U.A.E. law and regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic desirable but not mandatory.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Ethics.
