Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented, ambitious Associate Urban Planner to join our allied practice, InSite. The Associate Urban Planner will bring a passion for creativity, storytelling, artistry, and positive energy to our growing design studio. The ideal candidate will have strong creative and analytical skills and an ability to confidently lead projects and teams from visioning through project completion. To be successful, the candidate must be passionate about their role in the future planning and construction of cities.
InSite are urban designers, planners and landscape architects who share a love for the craft of designing the built environment and consist of designers from around the world.

- Manages teams preparing land use plans and development policies for master planning and other urban development and governance projects.
- Oversees the analysis of factors affecting land use and community development including economic, socio-demographic, legal, political, cultural, physical and environmental.
- Coordinates with other internal disciplines and manage the activities of outside sub-consultants in the execution of assigned projects.
- Prepares and presents urban plans and reports to clients and regulators.
- Prepares technical and financial proposals for designated project opportunities.
- Participates in business development activities as required.
- Plans and monitors project staffing levels and utilisation of labour.
- Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff.
- Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies.
Qualifications
To be successful in this opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience partnered with a Bachelor’s and Masters degree with some combination of Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning. Holding a certification by an internationally recognized professional planning association would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of local regulatory requirements for urban planning projects.
- Proven project experience working to Department of Municipalities and Transport guidelines.
- Advanced Knowledge of software programs (Revit, CAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, City Engine, Dynamo) would be highly advantageous
