To provide specialized services to patients for the diagnosis and management of diseases of the digestive tract
3.1 To perform the professional duties of a gastroenterologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges
as recommended and approved by the Credentials Committee.
3.2 To perform his duties in the G.I Clinic, evaluating patients with G.I. diseases.
3.3 To perform G.I. procedures – upper and lower G.I. endoscopies, liver biopsies, E.R.C.P. esophageal motility
studies.
3.4 To provide consultation/referral services to the inpatient services in his area of expertise.
3.5 Provides after working hours on call emergency coverage for G.I. emergencies.
3.6 Provides supervision and education to the endoscopy staff, nurses and technicians.
3.7 Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and
morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
3.8 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.9 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.10 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.11 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.12 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.13 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.14 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
4.1 Graduation from an approved Medical School
4.1.1. 1 year of Rotating Internship
4.1.2. 3 year residency of Internal Medicine Residency.
4.1.3. 3 years Residency training in a recognized residency in Gastroenterology
4.2 Current license in country of origin with Consultant Gastroenterologist HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi,
U.A.E.
4.3 Minimum 2 years’ experience of practice in the field of GI.
4.4 Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide
professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and
procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality
which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical
Organization.
4.5 Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice as a consultant in the field of
Gastroenterology in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
