Responsibilities

• Diagnose, plan and perform a wide range of general surgery procedures, including elective and emergency cases.
• Manage pre-operative evaluation, intra-operative execution and post-operative care, monitoring patient recovery and intervening when required.
• Collaborate with anaesthesiologists, nursing, allied health, and care teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality surgical care.
• Apply evidence-based surgical techniques, embrace innovations (e.g., minimally-invasive / laparoscopic procedures), and uphold best practices.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in line with DOH/DHA and M42 standards; maintain compliance with hospital protocols and accreditation requirements.
• Mentor junior surgeons or senior residents, participate in departmental education, audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialist certification in General Surgery.
• Masters/Certificate of Completion of specialty training recognized by DOH or as defined by DOH PQR.
• Minimum of 3-5 years post-specialisation experience in general surgery; experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Commitment to patient-centred care, continuous development and collaborative working.
