About the Role:
The Maintenance Technician role is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment used within GMG’s Farm Fresh processing operations. The Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition by conducting regular inspections, diagnosing malfunctions, and executing repair and preventive maintenance tasks. This role is essential to minimize downtime, support production efficiency, and uphold GMG’s standards for safety and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and resolving minor mechanical and electrical issues to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Assist in implementing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Inspect equipment for wear and potential issues, replacing faulty components promptly to avoid breakdowns.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Manager – Maintenance for major repairs and communicate equipment statuses effectively.
- Document maintenance activities and manage tools and spare parts inventory.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols.
- Work closely with production staff to provide input for enhancing machine performance.
- Recommend improvements to increase machinery efficiency.
- Contribute to fostering a safe and effective maintenance culture within the facility.
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience in machine operation or maintenance, preferably in frozen food industries.
- High School Diploma or technical qualification (e.g., ITI with trade certificate in electrical or mechanical).
- Basic knowledge of MEP, food hygiene, and machine safety practices.
- Skilled in machine setup, parameter adjustments, and minor troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and documentation skills.
- Able to support daily maintenance tasks and promptly replace faulty components.
