•Supervises all laboratory activities and testing procedures performed within their function for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients’ conditions if the scope of work broadens to include clinical practices
•Develops, revises and performs highly specialized laboratory techniques as approved by the line manager. This may include cytological, histological and immunohistochemical techniques based on their specified function.
•Implements and ensures maintenance of appropriate safety procedures for hazardous waste, infection control and chemicals management.
•Records and verifies the slides delivered for microscopic evaluation to the Pathologist or relevant laboratory caregivers to ensure they meet the quality standards.
•Organizes and schedules all testing procedures to ensure stated turnaround time and provides guidance on any technical issues related to the laboratory procedures that may occur.
•Ensures communication of test results, abnormal laboratory data, reference ranges, specimen requirements and other pertinent information to authorized sources.
•Ensures inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment such as temperature checks are conducted in line with the standard operation procedures and manufacturer guidelines and develops corrective actions to mitigate and resolve laboratory technical issues.
•Oversees the utilization and availability of inventory to ensure employees have access to the necessary laboratory materials to perform their responsibilities in a timely and quality-focused manner.
•Supports in providing educational and training programs to laboratory employees regarding equipment usage, new testing protocols and patient safety.
•Develops and maintains technical reports related to the cytology and histology laboratory activities and ensures regulatory requirements in terms of the screening limits for each Technologist.
•Ensures the service provided is in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of Joint Commission International (JCI), International Organization for Standardization (ISO 15189), Legislation, Policies, Quality Standards, DOH/DHA, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Laboratory Technology, Business Management or Closely related disciplines.
Experience
• 5 Years in a Laboratory Management / Laboratory supervisor role, extensive experience as a medical technologist
• Good understanding of Hematology, Chemistry & Serology
• Good understanding of CAP & ISO standards
• Strong experience in validating new instruments and methodologies.
Certification and Licensure
• DHA/DOH License phlebotomist, nurse or Medical Lab technologist (transferable home country license)
