POSITION : Employee Health Nurse – Primary Care Clinic
Position Description:
Employee Health Supervisor assumes overall responsibility for effective and efficient health screening examinations & consultation of all current and new employees. Serves as a resource for all employees requiring medical, physical and psychological assistance or referrals
Position Responsibility:
•Conducts pre-placement health screening examinations and consultation of all current and new employees
•Serves as resource for all employees requiring medical, physical, and psychological assistance or referrals
•Injury/illness review and first aid treatment of employees injured or exposed to communicable diseases or chemical hazards while at work — Workers Compensation case management
•Absence management (medical leave of absence)
•Ergonomic worksite assessments, Employee Wellness initiatives
•Serves as injury coordinator and case manager for all employees sustaining a work-related injury or illness. Includes evaluating and investigating all employee injuries and illnesses. Treats nonemergency cases and refers those requiring medical attention.
•Communicates with physicians, as needed, to identify health problems; assists with or recommends appropriate follow-up as needed.
•Provides health counseling for employees with special health care needs regarding their job limitations, post exposures and illnesses.
•Reviews completed physical and communicates abnormal findings or need for follow-up with employee.
•Communicates with the Performance Improvement Department in the investigation of communicable disease exposure to Hospital employees
•Coordinates a program of annual health requirements and competencies for all employees and monitors its completion
•Tuberculosis skin testing:
•Screens all prospective employees and performs/interprets tuberculosis skin testing with appropriate follow-up as applicable
•Performs and interprets tuberculosis skin testing/education update on all employees annually.
•Provides follow-up care/referrals to employees requiring treatment for positive skin tests.
•Contacts injured employees at least weekly and more often as appropriate.
•Maintains an Employee Health file for every employee.
•Ensures completeness of medical history form prior to scheduled exam.
•Maintains an up-to-date record of employee medical leaves, illnesses, injuries and vaccinations (absence management), Enters all occurrences into Employee Occurrence log (i.e. OSHA 300 log) within six days of date of injury.
•Reviews and tracks all employee exposures.
•Consults with compensation carrier regularly to update worker’s health and claim status.
•Files first notice of injury to worker’s compensation carrier within seven days of date of injury on any lost time or medical treatment claims.
•Maintains a safe, hygenic JCI standard unit environment
Position Qualification:
•3-4 year Basic Nursing Diploma/Degree
•Post Graduate Degree in Nursing Management/Advanced Clinical Speciality
