Respiratory Therapist Full Time

Role overview:
Reporting to the Respiratory Therapy Manager, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing and treating patients with both acute and chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction. This role utilizes best practices in patient care, ensuring compliance with MH and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

• Provides respiratory care for assigned patients while supporting access to additional resources for complex assessments and interventions.
• Practices hemodynamic monitoring and reports findings to the physician.
• Performs arterial blood gas (ABG) punctures and capillary blood gas (CBG) tests as ordered by the physician.
• Conducts point-of-care testing (POCT) to obtain ABG/VBG/CBG results.
• Changes tracheostomies when clinically ordered by a physician.
• Administers airway clearance and chest physiotherapy through various methods, including bronchial hygiene therapy.
• Administers medications via inhalation, strictly following physician orders.
• Assesses patients at a proficient level and modifies therapies based on clinical evaluations and monitoring data.
• Assists physicians and code teams during cardiac and respiratory arrest situations, providing advanced emergency airway care.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver individualized care, utilizing evidence-based interventions and ensuring timely communication and referrals as necessary.

• Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with a focus on continuous professional development.
